Quench your thirst for wine
With more than 200 wineries spread across the state, Texas prides itself as a top producer of premium wine, the quality of which rivals that of California. To see (or rather, taste) for yourself, you can head over to the State Fair Wine Garden where top wineries serve their best products. You can also taste eleven Blue Ribbon wines. These are basically the cream of the crop of Texas wines, so make sure to purchase a bottle or two while you’re there!
Get your auto fix
The State Fair features an auto show that’s sure to excite enthusiasts, collectors, and even casual motorists. This year, over 400 models are up for display. Some of the world’s top brands are going all out, so you can expect to see powerful and advanced from Honda, Alfa Romeo, Buick, Fiat, Jaguar, among other manufacturers.
Watch pooches in action
Here’s a treat for dog-lovers out there. An All-Star Stunt Dog Show is a perfect event for anyone who likes to watch impressive tricks and displays of puppy endurance. The most interesting part about this event is that the dogs were adopted from animal shelters. Watch as they enthrall you with their talent that have earned them praise from the likes of Oprah and Ellen.
Be one with the birds
If you’re more of a bird person, then you’re going to love World of Birds presents SOAR! which is making its comeback this year. The event features different species of birds that are bound to fill the Texas skies with their show of strength and splendor. But aside from watching these birds as they display their talents in the air, you can also spend time knowing as much as you can about these majestic creatures and the conservation programs being undertaken.
Get your kids to cook
Cooking is a wholesome activity and starting your kids early at the kitchen is a great way for them to adopt a new hobby. While culinary school is still a long way, the State Fair has something to bring out the master chef in your kid. From October 11th to October 18th, you can bring your child to Kids Can Cook. This event would be a great avenue for learning cooking techniques and methods that are not only fun to do but also create delicious and nutritious meals. Who knows? Maybe your kid will have the makings of a master chef.
