Collin County was once a parch of fertile land which saw conflicts flare up between the first settlers and Caddo Indians. Eventually, the indians withdrew from the area and the settlement began expanding.

Once a part of Fannin County, it was later separated and named after one of the signers of the Texas delcaration of independence, Collin McKinney. A thriving agricultural community would later spring forth, attracting many more settlers to the area.

After the devastating effects of the Great Depression, Collin County would eventually recover it’s declining agricultural industry. It was not until the 1980s that further diversification in the county’s economy would play a vital role in its development. Manufacturing plants and retail outlets began to saturate the county as farming slowly dimnishes in terms of importance.

Nevertheless, the county is known for prime residental communities such as Parker and Lucas.
